Enhance your students’ field trip experience by adding a 20-minute educational workshop to your field trip! Our workshops support a variety of lessons in physical and life Sciences, including conservation, gardening and animal husbandry. Advance registration is required.

Workshop Availability
March – October: Tuesday – Friday, between 9:30 AM to 2 PM
November – February: Thursday – Friday, between 10:30 AM to 2 PM
Each workshop is 20 minutes. All workshops are scheduled upon availability; availability for workshops can vary throughout the year. In May, workshops are offered only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Puppet shows can be added on Thursdays and Fridays.
Workshop Rates
Workshops are $2 per person (students and adults) in addition to your field trip fee. Workshops can accommodate 25 students per workshop session, with up to 50 students per hour.
Workshops
Barnyard Buddies: Take a tour through Fairytale Town to meet and learn about our flock of farm animals, most of which are rare or miniature breeds. Learn about life on a farm, why the animals at Fairytale Town are considered rare, what they like to eat and what products come from these animals.
Garden in a Glove: Students create mini-greenhouses while learning how seeds germinate and what they need to grow. Students work together to create a “Garden in a Glove” to take back to the classroom for observation and care.
BUGS! : What is the difference between an insect and a spider? Learn the characteristics that separate the two, and the amazing lives they live. Also, get a chance to meet some critters, including our tarantulas and different insects that call Fairytale Town home.
Nature Safari: Take a tour learning about different plant species that are growing in our gardens. Learn about how plants grow, what they need to survive, and the different things they produce. Then, embark on your safari to see what you can find under a magnifying glass!
Reptile Explorers: Meet our scaly, cold-blooded friends while we explore the world of reptiles. Learn all about what they eat, how they move, how they protect themselves in the wild, and what separates them for other animals.
Science Lab: Become Junior Scientists and conduct an experiment here at Fairytale Town! Activities could include learning about states of matter, exploring energy, or even learning the science behind slime. Experiments are based on age ranges and can be catered to different groups.
Buzzing Bees: Get an up-close look at Fairytale Town’s own bees and their hives while learning why these animals are vital to our environment. Participate in interactive activities that look at bees’ life cycle, communication methods, and uses of beeswax.
Classroom Critters: Interested in having a classroom pet? Our team brings the enchanting world of chinchillas, rabbits, and tortoises right to your classroom. Get up close and personal with these fascinating animal and see if they are the right fit for your class!

Field Trip Puppet Festival
Classic fairytales, folktales, and stories come to life on our Children’s Theater stage! A different story is presented every Thursday and Friday in the month of May. These performances are a fun and affordable way to introduce live theater and classic stories to children in a playful, family-friendly environment. Shows are offered at 10:30am and 11:30am. Shows are presented by Puppet Art Theater.
Theater show tickets are $2 in addition to the paid field trip entrance fee. You must book a field trip entrance time as well.
